[Voice] Trust?

[This whole "Christmas" thing has certainly left Jay with something to think about. Apparently, he's made the mistake of trusting someone and paid dearly for it. Well, he's paid them back, but that's beside the point. And thus, he'd like to get people's opinions to help him analyze a certain concept.]

I'd like to discuss something with everyone. How can you tell that you can truly trust someone? How do you know they won't abandon you?

Uh. Well, if they've stuck with you through hard times, I guess. But you're overthinking it if you're asking.

[Excuse the mistaken identity, since there were twins, one alive and one dead. So Jay will mistake you for the one that was alive.]

Th-Thyra?

Well, these particular people haven't really stuck with me through hard times. My recent experience has left me with something to think about at the very least.

Huh? You know my sister? Is she okay? Where did you see her? [...I promise she'll get back to the second part eventually, Jay. She's just rather excited by the first one.]

[Oh, yeah, while I'm thinking of it, I should mention that I'm trying to avoid Fenimore learning about her death for a while, since it's hard enough for her to deal with being an experiment to start with and I'd like to handle the issues separately. So if you think it would be IC for Jay to not tell her, try to avoid it. But if you don't think it would be IC for him to not tell her, then either I can find a work-around (like getting one of her housemates to interfere there somehow) or, if I can't, I can deal with it, because dealing with the unexpected from IC interactions is all a part of RP. Thanks for reading my excessively long spiel!]

W-wait...you're not...you're...Fenimore?

[Ahem...clearing throat.]

Yes...Thyra was on the Legacy. She's quite fine. In fact, if she were any more fine, she may cause a cataclysm.

[She laughs, relief evident. It starts slow and quiet, but it builds to a more normal speed and volume.] Yeah, that's her, all right. Oh, thank Nerifes, she's safe.

Thank you, um.... [She'd recognize Jay by sight, but he hasn't talked around her much in the game, so she'd take a while to figure out why his voice sounded familiar.]

Hmm?

[Jay lets out a chuckle himself. He had expected Fenimore to be insulted, but oh well. It's not like insulting her was his intent anyway.]

[He pauses, as it sounds like she's about to say something else.]

[She's too relieved to be offended right now. Probably next time will cause a "only I can say that about her!" reaction, though.

There's a pause from her end, as she had intended for him to fill in his name and, since she didn't realize she was being unclear, she thought that it meant that he didn't intend to give his name. So instead, she'll return to the statement she skipped over.]

Ah, well, anyway, if they haven't stuck with you, then maybe they aren't people you can trust to not abandon you.... Though I guess it would depend on the situation.

I haven't exactly known these people that long yet. I've only been here for roughly two and a half months.

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-04 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
...Then isn't it a bit early to start asking questions like that? [Ignore that she's met Shirley even more recently than that. There are no contradictions in Fenimore's advice whatsoever.]

[voice]

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
On the contrary, I was too late...

[voice]

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-05 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
...You've known them for, what, a few weeks, at most, and you're talking about them "abandoning" you? Isn't that kind of melodramatic of you?

[voice]

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Let's not worry about me. I was just looking for opinions, nothing more.
blessingone: (did you doubt the curve of the earth)

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-05 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Uh, the way you're talking, it sounds like this is asking for more than that.

[voice]

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
Not at all. There's nothing else to gain.

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-05 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
If you've got something in mind, general opinions aren't going to help as much. It'd be a lot easier if you were more direct.

[voice]

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
Something in mind? More direct? My question couldn't be any clearer.
blessingone: (and to you everything will seem normal)

[voice]

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-07 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You clearly have specific people you're thinking about. It'd be way more useful to ask for just those--

...Wait, are they listening to this?

[Filtered]

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
There, I've filtered this so that no one can hear us from here on.

But yes, there are specific people in mind, but I'm not interested in talking to them. They wouldn't listen anyway.
blessingone: (and to you everything will seem normal)

[Filtered]

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-13 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? ...What do you mean, filtered it?

That's not what I meant. There are plenty of ways people can show that they're trustworthy, so if you're wondering if you can trust certain people you're going to have to describe them. ...Or is that not what you meant?

[Filtered]

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Generally, everyone can hear what goes on in the journals, so you can filter it to keep it private to yourself, or between certain people. You can ask Shirley or Walter to show you how to do it. Just to warn you, however, no matter how well you filter it, everything in the journals can be overheard by the Malnosso.

But since you're new here, I doubt you know any of these people better than I do, so describing them would be pointless.
blessingone: (like you could save me)

[Filtered]

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-13 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Y-- [She catches herself before she expresses disappointment that it can't be normally filtered from the Malnosso, but she doesn't want to talk about the Malnosso any longer than she has to in case they are listening for their name.] Ah.

It's because I don't know them you'd have to describe them to me, and I'm not the only person you're asking. But if you say so.

[Filtered]

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-01-13 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm only asking for opinions about trust in general, not to confront these people. I don't recall asking anyone to butt into my personal matters.

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-14 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't mean for you to confront them, but if you ask it like that-- [...Wait, wasn't she supposed to be thinking about what she said before saying it? There's a pause.]
blessingone: (and to you everything will seem normal)

[personal profile] blessingone 2010-01-14 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever. If that's what you want. [Though she'd usually use a phrase like that somewhat sarcastically, there's no rancor in her tone this time--she just didn't bother to rephrase it more politely. It seems like he doesn't want her poking her nose into his business, so she'll keep out of it for now.]
