According to Miss Sage's guide, it seems that it may be possible for anyone to learn different kinds of magic from the Filial spirits. I hadn't given it much thought, as I'm quite comfortable with my own abilities. However, it would be beneficial to expand my abilities, to cover the bases that I lack.

For example, it's come to my attention that Aku is only vulnerable to the light or "holy" element. Therefore, learning the magic from Hyt would be useful…so it's unfortunate that he is also the most difficult spirit to contact. It's not surprising, really. Light is different from any other element, as it's usually associated with a divine figure of sorts. Learning how to heal would also be useful…but because it doesn't work outside the barrier, it'd be useless when fighting the Third Party.

These Filial spirits…are they worth it?

And trying to teach non-combatants how to fight…will that be worth it? Unless they happen to be extremely fast learners, I don't see it working out.

[Jay can be found sitting against the back of the C3 building. It's pouring rain, but the tall building mostly keeps him dry…mostly. He's staring up at the sky, remaining as still as possible, listening for any sort of spirit. Unfortunately, he's not exactly sure what he's supposed to listen for. All he hears is the pelting of the rain, and the loud cracking of thunder.]

And have you heard of the saying, "The pot calling the kettle black"? You may want to look that one up, dear.

Do you think I care? At the very least, my mind is stable compared to yours.

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
And what evidence do you have of that? How dare you accuse someone of something without any proof!

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
That's all the proof I need right there. And a man pretending to be a woman is hardly a picture of perfect sanity.

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not pretending to be anything! I am a woman!

...just...not on the outside. God made me this way. It's not my fault he gave me the wrong body.

voice

"God?"

If He made you that way, He must have done so for a reason. I don't think it's His fault either.

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, God. The Almighty? The Heavenly Father? The Creator of the Universe and all its creatures?

I tell myself that everyday. [He sighs slightly and actually sounds kind of depressed.] I must trust in His judgment, even if I can't yet see His plan.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, interesting.

In that case, stop whining and be a man.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
But you are! If this "God" gave you a man's body, then He obviously wanted you to be a man. You just said you'd trust in His judgment.

Do you enjoy torturing people about such sensitive subjects? Perhaps you are the one who'd best belong with this Aku person.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh, he absolutely loves it.]

I'm holding back, actually. Aku is not nearly as merciful. I do not belong with him; I refuse to become his pawn.

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Such a nasty habit to have, Jay. I do hope you learn to curb it before something unfortunate happens to you.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
...

So you learned my name. Oh well, I suppose it was easy enough to learn from the other residents.

And don't worry about me; I can take care of myself.

voice

You're not doing a proper job of it right now, dear. I do advise you to exercise better caution in the future.

Accidents can be such messy affairs.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
That's because nothing is actually attacking me.

Accidents? I take care to avoid those.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be careful if I were you. You're likely to end up in the same league as Aku and Yuber.

[Not to mention, he will make you regret it, even if you do succeed in your plan.]

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Now why would you say that? I haven't done a thing.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
But you're implying that you'll something sinister. You've threatened me several times, and if you carry it out, you'll be in Luceti's "bad list" with Aku and Yuber. You certainly don't want that, now do you?

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't be the first time someone misunderstood me and my work.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
So you kill people for a living?

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, no. That's a horrible way to put it.

I sing them to their eternal slumber - there's no money exchanged. It's what I was created to do. A service those of my kind provide for free.

voice

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
And a service that people don't want or need...

voice

[identity profile] erythrophilia.livejournal.com 2010-03-23 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Well, they certainly don't want it. What mortal wants to die?

But it is necessary. The Bureau is always short-staffed since so few of us actually exist. Terrible, really, what with how many things need to die in order to maintain balance in the world.
