[Voice] Cold Reality

[And here's Jay with another Cold Reality report.]

Another New Feather cycle, hmm? Welcome, I suppose...although this place isn't meant to be welcoming at all. And for those who are boldly making claims, please don't delude yourselves. You're in for a much more difficult task than you're anticipating. Thus, you won't be escaping from here anytime soon. Not by your own will, anyway. So whatever sanity you have, be sure to hold onto it, because it will be tested.

They should have at least some idea of what to expect here. And it's better to drop all hope now rather than become disappointed after they've been stuck here for some time.

Do you have any idea how disappointed I was when I couldn't escape from here?

Sure don't mean you need to go stompin' around like a galf in a bad mood. Not sayin' they shouldn't be told but there's more'n one way to skin a beast.

[Speaking of, Moses has finished grooming a rather large pelt he found at the store. It's clear he's going to make some clothing out of it.]

The way I see it, there's a way in'n there's gotta be a way out. Even if them Malnosso're sittin' on it, all they gotta do is mess up once'n give us the chance to get back home.

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2011-09-17 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course there's a way out, but it's growing more and more difficult the longer we're trapped here.

Ever since that blue CEO appeared, there's been one mistake after another on the Malnosso's end, and it still hasn't led us to a way home. So waiting for them to trip up is not a reliable strategy.

[identity profile] rogue-hunt.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Then it's startin' to look like they're losin' control. Could be that we're just focusin' on what they're screwin' up rather'n avoidin' it'n tryin' to get through the back door.

[He shrugs nonchalantly, clearly not too fussed about being here still. He hasn't had to deal with experiments yet, anyway.]

People just get hung up on doin' one thing. [He's one to talk.] Nothin' wrong with hangin' back'n lettin' 'em think we're ready to give up. Then bam - we're at their doors'n kickin' 'em in.

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Another problem is that the Malnosso aren't exactly a single force.

As much as I like the idea, we're going to have to do a lot more than just waiting around. But...

[He trails off, not wanting to admit that he has no clue what to do.]

[identity profile] rogue-hunt.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Neither're we. There's a lotta us here'n some of us could do a hell of a lot more'n we think we can.

[He carefully rolls up the pelt he was fiddling with, setting it aside with others that match it.]

Watch'n wait or start lettin' some of 'em go underground'n scout around. They'd be expectin' guys like us to get all noisy at 'em but the quiet ones're the scary ones. Them Malnosso can't be everywhere at once.

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2011-09-19 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
The only time we can really work together and accomplish anything is during these drafts.

[Really, it's not like Jay hasn't tried to work with the population before, but they're either too stupid or too stubborn.]

Scouting underground won't do us any good. You do realize that the Malnosso are located outside of the barrier, don't you? We can't reach them from here at all.

[identity profile] rogue-hunt.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Like hell. Sure see a bunch of people workin' together when new folk get dumped in here, y'know.

[He's not buying that. Perhaps no one's actually tried. Or there are too many cooks, not enough pots.]

You're tellin' me that barrier ain't dropped once?

[identity profile] unseenspy.livejournal.com 2011-09-20 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
And what exactly does that accomplish? It doesn't get anyone any closer to escaping from this place.

[The bandit will learn one day; Jay's so certain that even Moses is capable of learning that...eventually. At this point, all this optimism is starting to annoy him.]

The barrier certainly hasn't dropped from any of our efforts. The last time it malfunctioned, it led to a full-scale monster invasion. Not to mention, if the barrier were to be removed, it would invite the Third Party in to attack.

[So in a way, the barrier is a good thing as much as it is a bad thing.]

[identity profile] rogue-hunt.livejournal.com 2011-09-23 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Not right away but sometimes you gotta give it time. You don't like tryin' things that you ain't sure're gonna work but givin' it a chance don't hurt neither.

[The optimism, it burnses us, precious. It BURNS.]

'Sides, them Third Party bastards get enough shots at us 'cause of the Malnosso sendin' us out to start killin' 'em. You even try to rush 'em when the barrier was down'n the monsters were causin' distractions everywhere?
