[Written/Voice] 2nd Draft Aftermath

This is the second draft I've been involved in, and I can't say I'm thrilled with the results.

This time we were sent on an urgent mission to disable the shifting machinery in the underground research facility near our village enclosure. Failure to do so would have resulted in the barrier weakening and the entire village submerged underwater. At least two hundred Third Party soldiers were present in the facility when we arrived, with speculation that the number would increase.

As for the Third Party, they were certainly serious this time. In the final day of combat, there were stronger soldiers present, and they proved to be significantly more difficult to defeat. On top of that, the leader of the pack, simply known as the General for now, showed up. The residents who tried to fight him were killed mercilessly. It wasn't of much concern to me personally, but… Vincent… It would have been better if… He didn't have to…

There still isn't much information on the General himself, other than that he was killed by a woman named Buffy Summers before. Although I wasn't here at the time, I'm certain that the General was stronger than he was back then. It's not surprising, really; those who go down will come back stronger. Though we succeeded in eliminating the Third Party and disabling the shifting machines, we could have performed better in battle. Next time, it'll be our turn to come back stronger.

The situation has certainly changed from when I first arrived. I had initially thought that the Malnosso were our enemies, the ones keeping us trapped here, and that we had to defeat them to get home. We later learned that the Malnosso are as trapped as we are, and the Third Party is the true enemy. It feels awkward to cooperate with them, but when they have enemies in their own ranks, we can't exactly trust them either. Regardless, I'll keep an eye out for both the Malnosso and the Third Party. All of this has to lead to a way home somehow. I can't keep the Oresoren waiting forever.

[He turns off the filter and starts a voice broadcast, which begins with a weary, exasperated sigh.]

Well, it could have been worse, I suppose…
