[It's only been a day. Two, if you count the kidnapping of another one of Norma dear friends. She's been feeling anxious, fidgety, depressed. It was unlike her, and even her usual distractions weren't enough to fill the gaping hole that remained each time she returned home from whatever activity she had done to pass the time. Even when she was out, her mind kept drifting back to Grune being gone. Ace could take care of himself, he's strong, he'd be okay, but Grune? Grune was...well, she was Grune. She didn't deserve to be taken away! She didn't...

Norma home at this point, laying with her head down on her desk. She's bored, she's feeling sick, and she's lonely. Ugh. Ugh, this is terrible. This isn't her. This isn't her and she hates it. She needs someone to perk her right up. But who? She didn't know anyone well enough to do that, did she?

Filing through her thoughts, Norma blinks, and reaches for her journal. It's a long shot, but at least he'd hopefully understand. A filtered message goes out, to one person in particular.]

[Jay looks down at his journal as his familiar nickname is called. But...she's not being her usual cheerful self. This certainly makes him curious.]

...Norma? What's the matter?

[Jeez, is she really that obvious? Man, that's pretty bad if she's called out so soon. Putting on a smile as is her usual response, Norma waves her hand to the journal camera.]

Huh? Nothing! Jeez, I can't call you up once in a while to check in? [A-Ahaha...] How've you been? I don't see you around much! We should hang out sometime!

[Like now. Right now.

[Well, he's Jay. And she's Norma. They're like polar opposites. So it's easy for Jay to tell when she's lost the pep in her step.]

I'm fine. You know there's no need to worry about me.

Hang out, hmm? Having another party, are you?

[There's been too many parties in this place, and he's sick of them...]

[Oh, Jay. Of course Norma worries about you! You're her friend and companion, and her partner in crime when he comes to teasing Moses. She can't make snide remarks like you can. That thought in and of itself earns a small smile, but only for a moment.

Party...heh. Yeah. She could definitely use a party or something to cheer her up.]

Not unless you've got something to celebrate. But I meant just you and me. We never do anything together! Or could it be--?! [Dramatic gasp!] You've moved on, a-and forgotten me...! Cold, JJ.

[She kids. She always kids. Though this time seems a bit more forced than other times. Like she's dying for a laugh.]

Really? And here I thought you had parties every day for no reason. All right...what do you want to do?

[But at the last joke, instead of a laugh, there's going to be a loud pounding sound as Jay slams a fist on his desk. As someone who's been worried sick that everyone's gone and forgotten him, he does not appreciate that joke at all.]

Don't ever say things like that! Not even as a joke!

[Whoa, not the reaction she'd expected. Norma's eyes widen with mild shock and she stays quiet for a moment. That...certainly killed the mood she was trying to create. A-Ahaha...well then. Ahem. Back on track then, shall we?]

S-Sorry...jeez. No need to bite my head off about it! [She shuffles a bit awkwardly. Great, her one chance of trying to cheer herself up and hang out with a friend, and she made him mad. Marvelous.] A-Anyway, I just wanted to go out and talk with you! I mi--...I need a bit of good company, okay?

Right, right, I said sorry didn't I? [Jeez, JJ. So touchy. Though, of course, she is sorry, and doesn't know the real reason of his outburst. Norma's just being Norma, and she...really does feel guilty, deep down. Making Jay upset is the last thing she wants to do. She kinda needs him to be her support beam here.]

Uh...I dunno, how 'bout the bridge near the restaurant? We can walk around the plaza from there and stuff. I don't really know where you live, so I dunno what's closest n' stuff.

[ Okay, right! This can't be difficult, can it? Oswald told her to just write a letter, and she can start it off slowly if this person doesn't really like letters! Last time around with Beast it worked out too, so Usagi just eagerly starts writing. ]

Dear penpal,

(I can say penpal, right?! Or do you want me to use your name.. or even make a cute nickname? Ah, that last one sounds so good too!)

Right, the letter! I thought it would be the easiest to write you a short letter first so you can get used to it, okay? Even though I need to know what I should talk about.. I guess I can talk about how it's my birthday Saturday! Isn't it great? I haven't had a birthday in so long! [ Maybe because they're once a year, Usagi.. ]

When's your birthday? Since we're penpals I'll make sure to get you a present, okay? And feel free to talk about anything when you send me a letter back, I'll be waiting!

[Jay raises an eye as he sees the letter. The little rabbit doodle gives her away, so she's his assigned penpal, hmm?]

[Her birthday is coming soon? Jay's birthday is coming up as well, but he doesn't feel like talking about it. There's nothing to celebrate here.]

[He continues to stare at the letter. He really doesn't want to be in this thing, but if he doesn't respond, she'll probably hassle him as much as that silly rabbit has. So he should write something.]

...So you're the one, huh?

[ So short, Jay!! But it's okay, Usagi isn't one to easily judge, she just stares at it - and she's pretty eager when she receives a reply. It would be okay to send a few in a row, right?! It's all about getting to know each other, she understands this! ]

I'm the one! .. Well, not 'the one' like the destined one to save the world like you might see in movies or something, if you were thinking of that one, but I'm your penpal for the whole project thing, yes!

[ Give her a few moments to let this sink into her brain, she just.. doesn't understand.. how can you not do birthdays, how does that even work.. ]

But why wouldn't you? Isn't it the best to have a party for your birthday with all your friends? I always think that's fun, the presents don't even really matter even if it's pretty awesome to get those too!

Dear Jay the Unseen,

That is a funny name! Why are you Unseen? Can you turn invisible? I cannot turn invisible! My name is Ikki by the way which I am sure you saw since the pen pal list was given out again! My last pen pal didn't write back to me although I wrote him, so I think he was probably a very busy person!

I am going to tell you some things about myself because that is what pen pals should do I think! I am seven although I was eight for a little bit but then I went home and came back so I think I am still seven now which is strange but is fine! I like being seven! Anyway like I said I am Ikki and I am seven years old! I am an airbender, which is a person in my world who can control the air. There are also people who bend fire, water, and earth! I am an air nomad, too, which all airbenders are except in one case which is the case of the Avatar although one time out of four they are air nomads actually!

While I am here I live in house 56 with my grandpa and Katara and Uncle Sokka and Aunt Toph and Uncle Roku! Also living there are Prince Enrique Tenzin Ulberto Naoi Indigo Aang the starfish and Momo the winged lemur and Appa and sky bison and Hawky the messenger hawk and now Soren the Swellow who is one of my very best friends! He used to live with Chien but now he does not because Chien went home I think. I am not sure what Chien's home is like although I know some things because Chien didn't talk about it too much, but I think he will be happy at home because his brothers are there and he missed them! One of the last times we talked we talked about his brothers and so I am glad he is with them again.

Who do you live with? Are there a lot of people from your world here? What is your world like? Are you in any of the clubs here? If you are not you should join the art club which was recently founded!!! We had our first meeting and it was very fun and I think you would enjoy it!

Okay I have to go and feed Petunia really quick so this is probably a good place to end this!! I will talk to you later Jay!!!

Oh yes, I remember you. That silly rabbit actually assigned me with you? I never wanted to be part of this silly project. What do I need to do to get him to leave me alone?

As for me, I live by myself. There are a few people from my world here, but I don't particularly like to reveal their identities. I'm not interested in any of the clubs or activities here. I just want to go back home.

Oh! I didn't get your name last time you know!!!! Also Oswald is not silly he is very nice and fun, I think you should try talking to him more! Did you know he doesn't have a pen pal of his own even though he sets this all up?? And I think you need to make friends because that is what the project is about although you could probably ask him!

What is your home like? How about your family? My family is really big both here and back home!! I have a mommy and a daddy and two brothers and a sister at home and also a grangran! Here I have everyone I mentioned plus a lot of other people!

Really? Well, you can come and meet any of mine if you like sometime!!! Also purple is a really nice colour so that's a good choice!

Have you heard about Halloween? I am going to dress up for it because I have been told that is what people do!! It is not a holiday where I'm from though! Earth people have lots of holidays I've never heard of, you know?

Did you lose your memory last time?? I did! It was sort of weird.

I know about Halloween, and how the Malnosso like to bring our worst nightmares to life during that time. I can guarantee you won't be so thrilled with the holiday once you experience it for yourself.

I didn't lose my memory, because the Malnosso took me for their experiments.
