[Voice] Shirley's Gone?

[Sometime during the last experiment, Jay had heard an announcement…that Shirley was gone. However, he wasn't going to respond while he was an otter. But now there was no point in hesitating any longer. He had to find out for sure. And since the person who made the announcement was Shirley at the time, he had no idea who it really was. So there's nothing else to do but make a public inquiry.]

Did I hear correctly…that Shirley is gone?

Good. [A pause, and then:] Don't worry. She's better off at home. [Referring to Shirley.]

Of course she is.

[But what he wants to know is, when does he get to go home?]

Well, fine. I just thought you'd like to know.

[Because she has yet to recognize this guy as having met Shirley outside of Luceti.]

[She should know him, for this isn't the first time they've spoken over the journals.]

Regardless, I appreciate the consideration, Fenimore.

[She remembers that, but all she got from that is that they were from the same world, since he thought she was Thyra. (She really is horrible at identifying people from face-to-face on the journals, and vice versa, and she's not really improved much with time.)]
