[Hey Luceti, guess who's being cynical again.]

Just when we thought the Malnosso were doing something right in sending some people home, they had to trip up and make a phenomenal mess. And now they're bringing in new people again. It feels like we're right back where we started. Will this nonsense ever come to an end?

For those who are new here, you have Raine Sage's guide, and the Welcome Center to help you get acquainted with our situation. There are countless other villagers here who will help you as well. But whatever you do, try not to get too comfortable. This place isn't all sunshine and roses.

[As if the events of this month weren't any indication…]

Funny and here I was about to put up some signs saying abandon all hope ye who enter. It'll at least be a little more cryptic don't you think? [ He's totally not being serious...or so we think. ]

Good thing you're not part of the welcoming committee. Doubt anyone in this bloody place will be abandoning anything soon though.

I can only imagine why. [ A pause he thought you'd put up more of a fight. ] Could always make some signs. This place is severely lacking in them. [ It's like New Jersey or something! ]

Where do you plan to put them? In the forest for New Feathers approaching the village, or in the village for those entering the forest?

I was thinking halfway and having it say it on both sides so you could see it from anywhere.

[Have fun deciphering what he said through that thick Southern drawl. Rygdea is probably one of the few people from Cocoon to have such an accent.]

A welcome center? Why didn't anyone mention that sooner!? Would've saved me some trouble.

No one mentioned it to you? [Sigh.] That just goes to show that even those who have been here are no more reliable.

[Yeah, everyone annoys him. Well, not really. There are a few that he's comfortable with, but he's not thinking about them right now.]

Well, maybe they're just busy farmin' or something. This town does have farms, doesn't it? It looks like such a small place.

No, there's no need for farms here. All the food is provided in the shops. Or some people may hunt in the forest.

All the food is provided? The scientists actually feed us? Maybe this isn't such a bad gig after all.

[Really, the past month alone tops the nightmare of the whole year that he's been in this place.]

Sounds like you have a story to tell.

[And he'll tell the short version of it.]

In the past month alone, an earthquake destroyed half of the village. And then hordes of angry monsters invaded the village. After they disappeared, we suffered one of the Malnosso's regular experiments.

You got to be kidding me! All of that happened in one month?

[Yeah, this isn't as much of a cake walk as he previously thought.]

How did you guys get everything fixed? The buildings don't have a scratch on them.

Yes, all of this happened in one month. It's not exactly normal for this much to happen in a single month, but perhaps you'll get lucky, and something like this won't happen again.

[Although he sincerely doubts it.]

The buildings repair themselves, apparently. Or perhaps the Malnosso come down and fix them while we're not looking. It's not very likely though, given the magnitude of the damage and how quickly it was repaired.

[The more he learns about Luceti, the more he starts comparing it to Cocoon. Replace the fal'Cie with the Malnosso, and there isn't much of a difference. The same entity that provides Cocoon's citizens with food and safety, is the same thing trying to kill them. This seems to be the same issue here.]

Question, has anyone ever seen these guys in action?

Not at all. The closest thing to seeing them in action would be seeing the droids when they kidnap people for individual experiments.

Droids, huh? That's just nifty. Has anyone in the village ever thought of capturing one of these droids?

Actually, people prefer to think of avoiding capture from the droids, but no one has been successful. Therefore, capturing the droids would seem to be impossible as well. Not to mention pointless, because they can't talk anyway.

There goes that idea! Is there anything we can do here to stop these guys?

Not a thing.

First off, just because the damn drones can't talk doesn't mean they're useless. You can cut 'em up for information and look for some sort of tracking device that would lead you back to their base.

[Hmm. Nice plan, but...]

Even if we knew where their base was, we wouldn't be able to get there from inside the barrier.

Wait, what? There's a barrier here?

Yes, there's a barrier surrounding the village and its surrounding area that keeps us trapped inside like rats in a cage. If escape were that simple, none of us would still be here.

No need to get sassy, I'm just tryin' to help.

Anyway, if there's a barrier here...then there has to be a power source nearby.

Nearby? If there is a power source, they wouldn't keep it nearby. That wouldn't be very strategic, would it?

You got a point there, but there still would be somethin' around leadin' towards it.

Even if there were, the source itself would be outside the barrier where we can't reach it.
