[Action] Jay the Cat Watcher...

[There's a black cat wandering around the village, close by Community Building 3. Yes, Jay has finally decided to let it out to play for a while. But he is nearby watching it carefully...not too close to make it obvious that the cat is his. He'll watch carefully if people try to pet or play with it, but if he suspects any kind of cruelty towards it, he'll rush in to the rescue.]

[Ai was in the middle of a walk through Luceti, one of her first ones after having settled in. She suspected she would often take walks in this part of the village in particular, for it was fairly close to her apartment building just on the other side of the bridge. The teleporter to the hot springs was also nearby.

It was a quiet and pleasant day, and she was actually able to soothe herself with her walk. She didn't think she would after learning just what kind of a predicament she was put in, and realizing that she would probably spend a lot of time here, but this was truly nice. A walk through the city of Kibitou wouldn't normally be as peaceful.

The girl was quick to notice the black cat wandering close to the community building during her walk, the sight of it making her smile. She absolutely loved cats. And this one was the first she saw, and it looked just like Pooh back in her high school, who she used to pet and take care of. She had just started thinking of getting her own before she was brought here, too. Maybe she would still be able to do so here.

She approached the cat slowly, not wanting to scare it off, and soon enough she found herself kneeling down. She proceeded to give the cat a soft smile.]

Hey... I'm Ai.

[There was no way to know if this cat was owned or not yet, so she held out a hand, wanting to see what kind of reaction she would get.]

[The cat was friendly enough unlike its owner. Slowly, it'll move closer to sniff her fingers with her little nose. Jay is watching nearby cautiously. All is well so far, so he won't announce himself yet.]

[And Ai's smile widened at the cat's cute gesture. It even acted like Pooh during her first encounter with him by the school's swimming pool right after the end of her first practice.]

How did you end up here? Were you taken from your world, too?

[She chuckled softly with amusement, and then went on to check to see if there was a collar anywhere to help her determine if somebody owned the cat.]

[Yes, there was a purple collar around its neck. While Jay originally hadn't wanted to reveal that he owned a cat (it made him look soft, after all), he would prefer the kindness of others to return it to him if he lost it. So on the collar is a tag that reads, "IF FOUND, CALL JAY."]

"If found, call Jay"...

[So this wasn't a stray cat, after all. She didn't know if that would be even possible in Luceti.

Could it really be lost, though? It didn't seem like anyone else was around... She wouldn't be able to tell who Jay was anyway, but what she could tell was that the cat was pretty much alone here.

With the smile still on her face, Ai gently reached out with her hand in order to pet it.]

So Jay is your owner, then...

[Her voice was calm and affectionate, and she couldn't help it when she was around cats, especially friendly ones like this one.]

[The cat relishes the attention, and turns its head with its ear facing her. If she pauses, the cat will let out a soft mew in protest.]

[Ai herself enjoyed the way the cat continuously warmed up to her, giggling softly while she went on petting it.]

Why are you here alone, hm? Jay is probably looking for you...

[She liked giving the attention to the cat as much as it enjoyed receiving it, but she couldn't help but be concerned that it was left alone and that it was without its owner.

Perhaps what she should do is go by the welcome center in Luceti and ask where she may find him to return the cat to him. As far as she remembered from the map of the village, it was right across the other bridge.

After petting the car some more, she carefully started reaching with both of her hands to take it.]

Let's get you back to him...

[The cat didn't look like it wanted her to stop, and she didn't want to either, but she couldn't help but think that her owner was probably looking for it in the meantime, or didn't realize it was gone.]

W-Wait!

[Jay is right here, and he runs over to them. The cat stops and gives him a glance.]

[Ai lifted one of her brows curiously upon seeing the boy run to their side, and then gently withdrew her hands from the cat. Her eyes had widened a little in surprise.

He looked rather flustered. Was he the owner?]

Are you Jay?

[She then nodded her head towards the cat's purple collar, not standing up quite yet.]

[He's catching his breath as he responds.]

That's right...I'm Jay. I just let him out to play for a bit, and I'm keeping an eye on him.

[Ai then proceeded to stand up, crossing her arms in front of her as she looked at him inquisitively.]

I was just about to search for you. I thought the cat was lost.

[The girl then tilted her head as she momentarily glanced behind him and where he came from. She was pretty sure she hadn't seen anyone there before, so he had either wandered off or he had been hiding for some reason. Otherwise, he wouldn't have need to run like he did. Interesting... If the cat was hers and she took it outside, then she would've kept a much closer watch.

One of her brows remained lifted as she shifted her gaze back to Jay, the tone of her voice curious.]

Where were you keeping an eye on him from exactly?

Really? How nice.

[But she really didn't see him watching? He points to a spot in the open where he had been standing.]

I was standing right there. It just goes to show that people just don't pay attention.

[Ai's eye narrowed even more in response while her brows furrowed with slight irritation at his words.

What was with him? If he had been standing much closer than he had, it would've been more obvious that he was the owner of the cat.]

Are you sure you were paying attention to your cat, then?

[She folded her arms.]

I spent at least a couple of minutes with it. What if somebody else didn't see the collar and decided to take it for themselves?

I paid plenty of attention to it. You only spent a couple of minutes with it because I let you.

[And he folds his arms in turn.]

Well, I would step in and stop them, like I did with you.

[Ai still would've stood closer to the cat anyway so that it would be clear that it was hers. Regardless, even if she wasn't trying to take it for herself or anything, she could've been more attentive.]

Fair enough then, I apologize. It is your cat. I just wanted to help.

[She wasn't interested in getting into a fight over something like this.]
