Let me know how I can improve with Jay. I know I still have a ways to go.
I'm still juggling with several things, i.e. balancing the crit I've received and what I know from canon, as well as Jay's fear of opening up and his need to do so. I've also read some tips on

Also what I think will help is that when you point out what I do wrong, can you also offer suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks…

Mind if I ask for examples? I think that would help me not botch it up in the future.

I mean, I just picked up a second character last month, and he's already developed some meaningful relationships, and makes me feel like all of Jay's interactions have been meaningless. Of course, part of it is due to the personality difference, but I can't say I'm happy with that. It's kind of making me lose my "Jay juice," and I don't want that at all.

But then I think of his relationship with the Oresoren, which kinda makes me think that he could warm up to animal characters. Mrs. Brisby would be the ideal choice personality-wise, but it's still hard to determine how he'd interact with her. There's also Stitch, but I wonder if he'd be too mischievous for Jay's tastes.
Mostly he's had his "business" relations with people, working with them as an adviser/strategist/info dealer, so he could potentially work with the Justice League, or anyone else who has dedicated themselves to stopping the villains/protecting the innocents. So I have him keeping an eye out for the villains to see what he can learn. But that's incredibly difficult without the Oresoren to help him with that, and all he has is the journals to listen out for. So the information he gathers is mostly no different than what anyone else knows.
I've also tossed around the idea of getting him a pet of some kind, but I'll have to ask if those kinds of animals exist in Luceti. There are forest animals that talk, but they still behave like they would in real life. I even thought about having a duck follow Jay around, but I don't know if ducks would do that.

As for Jay's beliefs, Tales of Legendia doesn't say anything explicitly about transgender people, but there are enough hints to make an educated guess about the general levels of acceptance. For instance, while gender roles seem to be quite rigid among the Gadorian nobility, as a female knight among the commoners of the Legacy, Chloe draws no comment, even with her non-standard fighting role and being the only female member of the party to wear pants. And while sexuality and gender aren't directly related, acceptance of one could suggest acceptance of the other. Neither Norma hugging Grune specifically to cuddle her chest nor Elsa taking Chloe out on a date and announcing it as such caused any reaction beside amusement (or exasperation at Norma). Not to mention, everyone makes a big deal in the game about acceptance--it's one of the key messages of Legendia, something that Jay would have spent a good deal of time learning.
And, well, I have to say--this is actually pretty personal for me. The reason I haven't replied to that entry was because waking up and stumbling upon Jay reacting to Grell in that manner was really upsetting and hurtful for me. A couple of players I know are also upset by the way Jay has been talking to Grell, and I'm sure, in a roleplay of nearly two hundred people, they wouldn't be the only ones. And so, no matter your beliefs, I'd appreciate if you could find something else about Grell for Jay to mock. Jay's a creative guy; I'm sure you'll have no shortage of ammo.

It's not to say you're wrong about being upset by it, and I'm sorry for that. I'll try to think of other things in the future. To be honest, I was pondering whether to clarify myself at all after the "no matter what you believe" part. When people just brush off how I interpret a character, that's the most hurtful thing about getting crit.
